PROS
-The Sims will always be appealing to me, even if it’s considered a chick game, I still remember getting into a fight over XBOX Live where a guy saw on my profile that I played The Sims 4, and then proceeded to claim that I was a woman. These are the challenges I face as an average Sims enjoyer.
-The Wicked Whims mod adds a little bit of spice to the game, I mean if you’re already going to Funky Town, why not see something besides blurred pixels.
CONS
-The base game has a limited amount of things to do, and unless playing The Sims 4 is your real life career, then you’re probably not going to want to drop the $75,000 to get all of the DLC.
-When creating my Sim, my pronouns of There/ToyotaDealership/BlueberryPancake were not represented, and representation matters, do better Sims creators.
-No Steam achievements, sure there are in game achievements, but not a single person would prefer those to just having actual Steam achievements to display. When I played The Sims 4 on my XBOX One a few years ago, I ended up not using any money cheats just to chase after the achievements, which overall extended the life of the game, and gave me a greater sense of satisfaction.
-I might be alone on this one, but I wish there was an option for controller support, if I’m going to spend a while building my house, then I’d like to be leaned back in my chair relaxing with a controller in my hands instead of hunched over a desk.
-You have to make an Origin account to play the game you just bought on Steam. I really wish The Sims 1 would just make its way over to GOG honestly. sighs
OVERALL THOUGHTS
I know the list of CONS seems to outweigh the PROS, but again it’s The Sims, it’s fun. Pick it up for 5 bucks on sale, install the Wicked Whims mod, build a house, get a career, mingle, and then watch your Sim burst into flames while making a grilled cheese.
