RAINBOW BUMPER STICKER: THE VIDEO GAME
As a “Hide and Seek with Murder” veteran, having experienced Dead By Daylight during its peak in 2018 and Friday the 13th: The Game during its peak in 2017, I have extremely high standards for this genre. Having been forced into retirement as an S Rank Killer and an S Rank Survivor in Dead By Daylight in 2022 due to it being such a flaming pile of dog shit, I decided to try out this game. When I fired up Video Horror Society I had butterflies in my stomach, I was so excited to explore my new Dead By Daylight replacement. Right away I see who I want to main, it is a redhead named Faith, when a redhead is an option, you have no other choice than to main her.
I played the tutorial, and it seems a bit sluggish, but I keep on. I instantly found myself liking the character designs and how the world looks, although I would have preferred a darker and scarier atmosphere such as in Dead By Daylight circa 2018, it’s not a big issue. I then play the actual game itself, and the first thing I notice is that the entire lobby besides myself is full of the other players wearing rainbow everything, because when I want to immerse myself into a horror game, I also want to think about two sweaty naked bearded men going to town on each other. Now don’t get me wrong, I spend most of my nights laying awake in bed thinking about space docking with Henry Cavill, so I totes get it fr fr no cap, Tide Pod Challenge yeet yeet Pete Davidson Fortnite dances. I now start the actual game itself, where I end up getting brutalized by a werewolf wearing a rainbow bracelet. I ended up playing 3 games in total to give the game a fair chance, with zero funs had.
PROS
-Even though I would have preferred a darker atmosphere, the character designs and the world look great.
CONS
-Gameplay feels sluggish.
-It’s not even the slightest bit scary.
-It is not fun.
ADVICE TO THE DEVS
Take your game off of Steam, think about what all I said and apply it to making your game not trash, and then after a year or two release it again. You’re welcome.
