Batman Arkham Asylum

 

I played Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Arkham Origins on the PS Triple back in the day, and figured it was time to revisit the first game. I never played Arkham Knight, since I heard the Batmobile segments ruined the game.

It’s refreshing to play a Triple A mainstream game that sticks to the source material, where the main focus of the game is for the player to have an enjoyable experience, you don’t get that too much in modern Triple A slop. The characters and the dialog are very well written and voice acted. If you didn’t know anything about the Batman lore, you will after playing this game.

The gameplay revolves around stealth segments, beat em’ up segments, and collect-a-thon segments (Riddler Trophies) and works out well.

If you’re mostly a fan of modern day cape sh*t sloppa, and have a wall of Funko Pops behind you, then this game probably isn’t for you, but if you’re a fan of old school comic books, then it is a must play.

American Truck Simulator

 

I picked up Euro Truck Simulator 2 and reviewed it last year, so if you want a more in depth review of my thoughts on Truck Sims check out that review. While that game was great, I kind of wanted to drive on the right side of the road, so I got American Truck Simulator.

It's a good game to put on a podcast and relax to. If I’m in full LARP mode as my trucker Diesel Cecil, then I slam a couple of Ice beers, and put on some 80’s metal or country music, like a true trucker. Driving through San Francisco is cool, it looks so beautiful and clean, kind of like you’re in an alternate timeline where the Germans won World War II. I do wish there were some states from the South East to drive through, as that’s the best part of the country.

Villian's Legacy

I still haven’t fully finished the game, but I think I’m at the tapping out point, so I’ll go ahead and give it a review. I got this game to play a WEG where the characters aren’t just the usual boring college students, but instead super heroes and super villains. I have a deep desire to hate fuck Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel with her flipper feet in my mouth, so I thought this would be the game for me, but sadly it’s pretty lackluster. The story and animations all suck, plus there’s a lot of tedious unpleasant game mechanics to progress. Not the worst WEG I’ve ever played, but not recommended.

A nice mass murder simulator. At first I had a problem with shooting the unarmed civilians, but then I just pretended they were all crisis actors, and I was fine with it.
