Beer Reviews No. 51 - No. X

Beer Review 51 | Icehouse Peach (The Bayley)

A refreshing peach beer.

1 Splash Simply Peach

12 oz Icehouse

 Enjoy!

Style: Fruit Beer | Abv: 5.5% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 52 | Tecate

It has a standard "beer" flavor, however I think this is the first time I've tried a bubble-less beer. I'm sorry hombres, but at the very least I require bubbles in my brew for enjoyment.

Style: Mexican Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4.5% | Rating: 2.5

Beer Review 53 | Monster Brewing: The Beast Unleashed: Mean Green

With my gas station’s selection of singles I’m willing to try is starting to get slim, I decided to try a malt beverage from Monster of all people. If you like Monster energy drinks based on their flavor, then this is the beverage for you, as it tastes almost identical to one. The 6% abv is the perfect amount of alcohol without being too high or too low. It’s not something I'll ever pick up again, but I was impressed how closely it tasted to their original formula. Also there is no sugar or caffeine in this, so there are no added dangers while enjoying your alcoholic beverage.

Style: Malt Liquor | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 6% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 54 | Kona Longboard Island Lager

The bottle looks cool, it has a unique shape that fits well in the hand, and has the Hawaiian islands on engraves on the glass. Tastes crisp and clean, with just the right amount of bitter, very sessionable.

Style: American Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.6% | Rating: 4

Beer Review 55 | Kona Big Wave Golden Ale

The bottle looks cool, it has a unique shape that fits well in the hand, and has the Hawiian islands on engraves on the glass. Tastes crisp and clean, but I’d much rather grab the Longboard Island Lager instead.

Style: Blonde Ale | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.4% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 56 | Black & Tan

Absolutely delicious, and at a great price point.

Style: Porter | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.7% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 57 | Foster’s Premium Ale

I’ve only had the Foster’s Lager and that was a few years ago, and I remember it tasting pretty bad, so I was very pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable Foster’s Premium Ale was, I will be repurchasing this in the future. I also love that the cans are tailor made to fit Andre the Giant’s hands.

Style: Strong Bitter | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 5.5% | Rating 4

Beer Review 58 | Reverly Lefty Loosey

Has a cool Volkswagen Beetle on the can, reminds me of my Dad’s car when I was a kid. I’m not super into IPAs these days, but this one was pretty refreshing and has a nice 7% abv, not too much….not too little.

Style: IPA | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 7% | Rating 3.5

Beer Review 59 | Mike’s Hard Limeade

The taste is okay, tastes like one of those pop ice treats that I’d enjoy on a hot summer's day as a kid in the 90’s, in between using hose water to hydrate. The guys on Dateline To Catch A Predator used to love this stuff, it’s a predator approved beverage. Way too much acid for me, I'd imagine drinking 12 of these will have you barfing up acid like Reptile from Mortal Kombat. 1 out of 5.

Style: Acid | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 5% | Rating 1

Beer Review 60 | Pilsner Urquell

Family Matters themed beer, slightly above average, but a one and done for me.

Style: Pilsner | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.4% | Rating: 4

BeeBeer Review 61 | Labatt Blue

Lance Storm would drink this beer if he could be serious a minute. Tastes like a Canadian PBR, the 11.2 oz bottles always put a frown on my face. It was okay, not a repurchase.

Style: Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 5% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 62 | Pacifico Clara

Tastes better than Corona.

Style: Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.4% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 63 | Yuengling Golden Pilsner

At first sip it tasted like a Heineken, but the more I drank it I could taste that classic Yuengling underling flavor. The shape- shifting beer confused me all night. I think I’d rather grab Yuengling’s Traditional Lager over this one. It could be a possible repurchase in the future.

Style: Pilsner | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.7% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 64 | Downeast Cider Blueberry

A blueberry flavor cider that reminded me of freshly baked blueberry muffins out of the oven.

Style: Cider | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 5% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 65 | Abita Strawberry Lager

A strawberry lager, very crushable, with a natural non Kool-Aid strawberry flavor. Worth picking up a 6pk once a summer, but at $13 dollars for something that’s not doing to get you drunk, haha let's pump the brakes there Gambit. Also I don’t like that Abita’s fruit beers have ditched the bottles.

Style: Fruit Beer | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4.2% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 66 | Lone Star

On my first ever trip to the Lone Star State of Texas to see the Tallica boys, I decided to pick myself up a 6pk of 16oz Lone Star beers from the local Kroger, yee haw! I believe this Hank Hill style lager relies heavily on the Texas gimmick, and fair price to keep the cowboys coming back time and time again. Not a beer I’d buy regularly if it was available to me all of the time, but a must if I am ever back in Texas.

Style: Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4.6% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 67 | Corona Familiar

Corona needs to stop making beer yall. The big booty Judy glass bottle I got from the gas station of it was fun though.

Style: Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.8% | Rating: 2.5

Beer Review 68 | Modelo Negra

Presentation wise, the bottle has a very comfortable shape to hold, and it comes in a gold foil wrapper, so every beer feels like you’re unwrapping a gift. It’s a dark lager, so of course it tastes good. I wish it was a few dollars cheaper, but it’s a good beer to pick up once a blue moon.

Style: Dark Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 5.4% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 69 | Abita Purple Haze

Has a subtle sweet and tart raspberry flavor and one of the most delightful smelling aromas I’ve ever experienced. I first had this beer back in 2005, and it smells and tastes exactly like it did back then, absolutely delicious. While the taste is great, Purple Haze’s downfall comes in its low abv and high ticket price, so it’s a special occasion only beer. I also haven’t seen it in bottles in my area in a long time, at 13 dollars for a 6pk, there really should be a bottle option available.

Style: Fruit Beer | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4.2% | Rating 5

Beer Review 70 | Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest (2023)

It was an okay beer, didn't leave much of an impression on me.

Style: Festbier | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 6% | Rating 3

Beer Review 71 | Foster’s Lager

I had this beer a couple of times before and always thought of it as a bitter and overly frothy mess, but now retrying it now as WORLD CLASS BEER EXPERT, I must say that it isn’t a bad beer at all. However Foster’s Premium Ale is a lot better in my opinion, so if I were to see the Lager in the blue can, and the Ale in the green can, I’d go with the green can every time.

Style: Australian Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 5% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 72 | Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy

Having really enjoyed the Samuel Adams Porch Rocker of a similar style, and really enjoying that, I was very let down by this beer. It tasted like Lemonheads candy that had been shaken up in a water bottle and then poured into a lager. Very watery and artificial tasting.

Style: Fruit Beer | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.2% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 73 | Samuel Adams Octoberfest

Beautiful dark amber color, wunderbar aroma, very sweet and delicious!

Style: Märzen | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 5.3% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 74 | Voodoo Ranger Atomic Pumpkin

Pours a lovely orange color, has the aroma of freshly baked pumpkin pie, whipped cream and all, tastes like a spicy pumpkin pie. The spicy gimmick is a lot of fun to drink, it might just be best to enjoy a 6pk of instead of a 12pk with all of that spice. I really enjoyed it!

Style: Fruit Beer | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 6.4% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 75 | Yuengling Oktoberfest

Tasted like their Traditional Lager with a drop of Samuel Adams Octoberfest added to each bottle, and a 6pk is about the same price as one of Yuengling's 12pks. Not the marzen you should settle for.

Style: Marzen | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 5.4% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 76 | Busch Ice

Before I started my beer reviews earlier this year, I somewhat tongue-in-cheek declared Busch Ice as my favorite beer, but Busch Ice being an excellent beer is no joke. The price, the flavor, the drinkability, the abv, heck even the way the can looks, I love everything about this beer. One of my all time favorites.

Style: Ice Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 5.9% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 77 | Left Hand Peanut Butter Milk Stout

Pours a heart of darkness black, the aroma can be smelled from 2 feet away, smells like freshly baked brownies, tastes of chocolate and peanut butter combined with a strong alcohol flavor. I try to avoid milk when possible, so while it was fun to have a single can, it won’t be a frequent item in my fridge. Worth trying if you like the chocolate and peanut butter combination, which I assume is 99% of the world’s population.

Style: Milk Stout | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 6.2% | Rating: 4

Beer Review 78 | Budweiser

A heavily consumed beer from my youth, that I haven’t retried in years. Unlike most of Beer Advocate, I actually love American adjunct lagers, so don’t think I’m one of those fedora tipping anti-lager guys, but it really didn’t do anything for me. Extremely watery tasting, I’d much rather just have a Coors, Miller, or Bud’s brother Busch. I do love the red can though, very iconic.

Style: American Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 5% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 79 | King Cobra Premium Malt Liquor

An average 3 out of 5 beer, but much smoother than some other 3 out of 5 beers I’ve tried. Make the malt liquor community prouds and pick yourself up a 40oz.

Style: Malt Liquor | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 6% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 80 | Samuel Adams Jack-O Pumpkin Ale

Tastes like pumpkin pie. A couple of years ago before I did beer reviews, I got a build your own 6 pack of all pumpkin beers, and this one ended up being my favorite. I imagine once you get to the pearly gates up in heaven and ask what kind of beer they have, you’ll be greeted by Gal Gadot. She’ll stick her foot in your mouth, and have Samuel Adams Pumpkin Ale cascading down her leg into your mouth. That is how I imagine heaven anyways, this stuff is definitely on tap up there. One of my all time favorites.

Style: Fruit Beer | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.4% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 81 | Golden Road Brewing Mango Cart

Absolutely delicious, tastes like a Mango Fanta or something, zero alcohol taste. The price is a bit high, and the abv is laughably low at only 4%, so it’s not going to be a regular pick up, but I’d never turn one down. The can art is also a bit too “California” for me as well.

Style: Fruit Beer | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 82 | Busch

While I’d rather just pick up Busch Ice, which is cheaper and has a higher ABV, beer doesn’t come much cleaner or crisper tasting than Busch. Head for the mountains!

Style: American Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4.3% | Rating: 5

Beer 83 | Coors Light

Very crisp, I’d given this beer a 3.5 out of 5 after the first couple of sips, but by the time I’d finished the 24oz can, I had to bump it down to a 3 out of 5. It’s not something I’d want to drink more than 1 or 2 of. If Coors Banquet is the Banana flavored Coors, then Coors Light is the Raisin flavored Coors.

Style: American Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4.2% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 84 | Old Milwaukee

Pale in appearance, standard beer smell, and has a crisp sweet hop finish. I will be picking up this bargain beer again, great stuff!

Style: American Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4.5% | Rating: 4

Beer Review 85 | SweetWater Gummies Fruit Punch Imperial IPA

Looks like when you use the restroom after drinking a ton of vitamin C, smells like Gummy Bears, and it does indeed taste like melted gummies in a can. Worth picking up a single of for the goof, but absolutely terrible.

Style: IPA | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 9.5% | Rating: 1.5

Beer Review 86 | Frothy Beard Oktoberfest

Dark Amber in color, very sweet, and tastes not too far off from the Samuel Adams Octoberfest, but has a stronger bite on the tongue. Is best paired with a comically oversized slice of cheese pizza with a side of ranch dipping sauce from Frothy Beard.

Style: Märzen | Tap/Can/Bottle: Tap | Abv: 5.7% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 87 | Hamm’s

I had heard much hype about this beer, and was excited when it finally showed up in my area here in South Carolina, however it can only be found in 24pks, so I had to go all in on this gamble. The beer tastes fine, it’s a pretty standard American Adjunct Lager, much better than PBR, but I’d rather grab a Busch or Old Milwaukee from the bottom shelf instead.

Style: American Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4.6% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 88 | Bohemia

Much better than Corona and Tecate, comparable to Modelo and Dos Equis as far as quality goes.

Style: Pilsner | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4.7% | Rating: 4

Beer Review 89 | Stella Artois

Cool looking bottle, tastes a lot like a Henienken, but it lacked a bit of that Heineken bite, so I’d probably just pick that one up instead. Also while the bottle is cool looking the paper around is a bit annoying when drinking it, also the bottle is only 11.2 oz which always disappoints me.

Style: European Pale Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 5% | Rating: 4

Beer Review 90 | Westbrook Graveyard Shift

I bought this beer last year because of the cool horror slasher movie can art, and I did the same thing this year. While I love the can art, this beer is dangerously overpriced, YIKES. Taste is okay, it tastes like an IPA. A good beer to pregame with before trick or treating or to enjoy while playing a few games of Dead By Daylight, preferably the 2.3.3. build back when playing killer was still fair. Westbrook’s Costume Party beer that also comes out this time of year tastes like a Snickers candy bar, that one tastes a lot better.

Style: IPA | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 7% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 91 | Ace Pineapple Hard Cider

A sweet but not overly sweet pineapple flavored cider.

Style: Cider | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 5% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 92 | Olde English 800

My 92nd beer review, and funny enough the gas station babe who rang me up had 1992 tattooed on her knuckles, fate? I think so. Dark yellow in color, carbonation for days, no nose to speak of, medium mouth feel, a bit of a creaminess kind of like Miller High Life, and a very subtle bite at the end. While it’s not something I’ll probably keep on rotation, it is a very good beer, especially for the price. Wish I could have found it in a glass bottle though.

Style: Malt Liquor | Tap/Can/Bottle/Plastic: Plastic | Abv: 5.9% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 93 | Cigar City Jai Alai IPA

I first tried this beer inside of Beast’s Castle at Disney World in Orlando Florida. It is kind of a tradition for me and AH WIFE-AH to eat at Beast Castle. One of the times while being very sick, nothing quite like eating escargot as a goof on your birthday while having a fever dream. As for the beer, it tastes like an IPA, but is a lot crisper than most. I get a single of it once in a while for sentimental value, but taste wise I don’t see what all of the fuss is about.

Style: IPA | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 7.5% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 94 | Frothy Beard Sip Sip Pass

Hazy light yellow color, grassy orangey taste, pretty light and crisp.

Style: IPA | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 6.8% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 95 | Frothy Beard Tides Red Irish Ale

Reddish brown in color, nutty smell, nutty taste, creamy on the tongue, and dry on the finish. I really enjoyed this one!

Style: Irish Red Ale | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 6.2% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 96 | Narragansett Lager

Overly busy can that has some clam soup recipe on it or something lol, but the price is on the cheaper end which is great. Sadly it tastes like a PBR, and a flat PBR at that. No thanks.

Style: American Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 5% | Rating: 2

Beer Review 97 | New Belgium Holiday Ale

Pours a beautiful light red/brownish color, smells of cranberry and spice. Cranberry and nutmeg on the tongue, very crisp and light body for being a 7.5% beer. A delightful beverage.

Style: Winter Warmer | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 7.5% | Rating: 4

Beer Review 98 | Lo-Fi Mexican Style Lager

Extremely pale in color, Busch levels of see through, very crisp with just a tiny bite, very sessionable. The pink unicorn on the can is a bit exhausting in today’s climate, but I don’t think there is any degenerate agenda behind it, however it’s not helping me want to grab a 6pk of it. Overall it’s a decent beer, but not one I’ll pick up again.

Style: Mexican Style Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 5% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 99 | Sapporo

I had to get this in the 22oz can, that looks sturdy enough to knock a B out with, the 22oz can cost me 5 dollars, which is highly unacceptable, but it’s been on my beers to review list for forever. Pale in color, crisp and sweet on the tongue, overall a kind of average lager. I’d much rather just pick up some Asahi Super Dry.

Style: Japanese Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4.9% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 100 | Asahi Super Dry

Light in color, sweet and dry on the tongue, the bottle has a good looking silver label. A world class beer to enjoy while you're watching Dragon Ball Z. I love it and plan on drinking many more of these over the years.

Style: Japanese Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 5.2% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 101 | Terrapin Oktoberfest

Light amber in color, smells like a märzen obviously, seems a bit more sessionable than other beers in that style, but I only had a single, so I couldn’t say for sure. Tasted great, I would buy it again for sure!

Style: Märzen | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 5.5% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 102 | Anderson Valley Blood Orange Gose

Color looks like if someone were to take a Busch and pour in a dash of a hazy IPA into it. Citrusy, light, and refreshing in a disgusting sour beer kind of way. I’ll never understand why someone would drink these.

Style: Gose | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4.2% | Rating: 1.5

Beer Review 103 | Indigo Reef Drift Dive

Has little black floaters in the glass, smells like an IPA, overly bitter in taste, I didn’t care for it.

Style: IPA | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 6% | Rating: 2.5

Beer Review 104 | Terrapin Luau Krunkles

Light orange color, light mouth feel, tiny bit on the tongue and finish. A good orange flavored beer.

Style: IPA | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 6.5% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 105 | SweetWater Festive Ale

Pours a heart of darkness black, chocolate smell on the nose, tastes like a thick chocolate coffee with a bit of vanilla and nutmeg. It's a great beer, but even just a 6 pack would be too rich tasting for me, pick up a single or two.

Style: Winter Warmer | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 8.1% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 106 | Bud Ice

Well Bud Ice, you’re the lucky beer that gets to be my 100th beer review on Beer Advocate! Sadly I don’t have much to say about this one, it has the look and smell of an ice lager, and tastes very watery much like regular Budweiser. It wasn’t a bad beer, and one I could see myself drinking it again, but taste wise I’d much rather have a Busch Ice or Icehouse.

Style: Ice Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 5.5% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 107 | Abita Christmas Ale

An average tasting brown ale with cute bottle art featuring alligators as Santa’s reindeer. Dark amber color, nuttiness on the nose, light and clean tasting mouthfeel.

Style: Brown Ale | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 5.8% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 108 | Samuel Adams Cold Snap

Extremely clean tasting, but not much else.

Style: Witbier | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 5.3% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 109 | Samuel Adams Winter Lager

Good looking gold label ruined with a “is it okay if this is a Christmas beer” phrase on it. Amber/brown color in appearance, and nothing on the nose. Mild flavors of cinnamon, ginger, and orange peel all blended pretty evenly together.

Style: Bock | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 5.6% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 110 | Busch Light

If you want flavor, and a good time, get Busch Ice.

If you want flavor, get Busch Regular.

If you want slightly cleaner tap water, get Busch Light.

Style: Light Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4.1% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 111 | Natural Light

Ah Natty Light, a beer I drank a ton of out of red solo cups in the early/mid 00’s decade, great times. Since it has been probably 15 or so years since my last one, I thought it would be fun to retry, and honestly for a light beer it was pretty good! Very light in appearance and mouthfeel, there isn’t much of an aroma and the head dissipates quickly. Tastes a bit like Rice Krispies.

Style: Light Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4.2% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 112 | Michelob Ultra

The least exciting beer I’ve tried to date, it’s not bad, it’s not good, it’s barely anything other than sad water. Just get some Natty Light or Miller Lite instead.

Style: Light Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4.2% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 113 | Staracre Brewing Starless

Reminded me of a much more flavorful and drinkable Guinness Extra Stout, for a dark beer I could see sessioning a 12pk of these no problem, an absolutely delightful beer. I plan on drinking more of these in the future.

Style: Schwarzbier | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 5.3% | Rating: 4.5

Beer Reviews No. 1 - No. 50

Beer Review 1 | Dos Equis Lager Especial

A very sweet tasting and refreshing cerveza. The cool bottle as well as the endorsement from The World’s Most Interesting Man also doesn’t hurt. I just wish the alc/vol was a bit higher and the cost a bit lower. It is a beer meant to be enjoyed with some enchiladas or for an afternoon at the pool.

Style: Mexican Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.2% | Rating: 4

Beer Review 2 | Yuengling Traditional Lager

Yuengling Traditional Lager is not only from America’s oldest brewery, but also a very tasty beverage. I like the look of the bottles, and I love that it’s family owned. The alc/vol could be a tad bit higher, but you really can’t beat the price. This is America’s beer!

Style: Amber Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.2% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 3 | Coors Banquet

It’s funny considering how much Boomers used to suck down Bud Light, Miller Lite, and Coors Light, that Coors Banquet has always gone so overlooked. Coors Banquet has a subtle banana flavor to it and tastes way better than the Light formula.

Style: American Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 5% | Rating: 4

Beer Review 4 | Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

This is a beer that has been well loved by Hop Heads for decades, and while it’s not something you’ll ever see me drinking a full 6pk of, I will say that it does live up to the hype. Very flavorful and jacked full of cascade hops. I imagine this beer would pair really well with a nice burger or steak from off of the grill.

Style: Pale Ale | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 5.6% | Rating: 4

Beer Review 5 | Icehouse

The taste is a bit offensive, but still drinkable. Let’s be honest here, if you are buying an ice beer, you are buying it to get as drunk as possible while spending as little money as possible, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Style: Ice Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 5.5% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 6 | Samuel Adams Boston Lager Remastered

I haven’t had the non nerfed version of Samuel Adam Boston Lager since around 2008. So it’s hard for me to compare the original with the “Cost Cutting” opps I meant “Remastered” version. But it tastes mostly like I remembered, maybe a bit more watery now though. It’s a mighty fine beer that I’ve kind of been craving more of lately. I just wish since it’s now beer flavored seltzer water, that they’d slash the price a tad bit.

Style: Vienna Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 5% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 7 | Dos Equis Ambar Especial

I had heard people praising the Dos Equis Ambar Especial over the Dos Equis Lager Especial, however I found myself liking the Lager Especial more. It’s an okay cerveza, I picked up a subtle taste of a cigar or tobacco flavor when drinking it, but I’m also really bad at beer reviews, so who knows? Lol

Style: Mexican Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.7% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 8 | Warsteiner Premium Pilsener

Has that Heineken skunkiness, but it’s cheaper, and Warsteiner is a much cooler name for a beer. Being that it’s a German beer and I’m mostly made up of German heritage, I’d rather grab a 12 pack of this one over Heineken.

Style: German Pilsner | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.8% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 9 | Warsteiner Premium Dunkel

One of the best beers I’ve ever had, it tastes like a chocolate coffee! Very affordable and tasty, those Germans know what they’re doing, I wouldn’t mind having a dedicated fridge full of this stuff.

Style: Munich Dunkel | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.8% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 10 | Moosehead Lager

Tastes like a Heikenen at a discount price, and with an awesome moose head logo on the bottle. It is Canada’s oldest independent brewer, so it’s not being run by some big evil corporation, yet. If you were to see this side by side at the store next to Heineken, I’d recommend picking up this one. It would be best enjoyed with some poutine and while watching some old Bret “The Hitman” Hart matches.

Style: Canadian Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 5% | Rating: 4

Beer Review 11 | Eagle Banana Bread Beer

Smells like it was brewed with Banana Runts, it has more of a banana smell than it does taste, it is also dangerously overpriced. If you’re a banana fan like myself, I’d recommend trying a single, the price and the flavor don’t justify an entire 6pk of the stuff.

Style: Fruit Beer | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 5.2% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 12 | Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA

While I find the original Sierra Nevada Pale Ale to be quite flavorful and refreshing, the Torpedo Extra IPA was just too much for my tender lil guy taste buds, not for me. Way too harsh, not enjoyable.

Style: IPA | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 7.2% | Rating: 2

Beer Review 13 | Yuengling Hershey’s Chocolate Porter

One of the most delicious beers I’ve ever had, smells and tastes like it was drizzled with Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup. I only had a single of this beer, but I could tell from just that one, that I would have no problem drinking an entire 12pk of this in a night. My dream would be for Yuengling to drop their partnership with Hershey, and just make their own Yuengling Chocolate Porter, maybe down the road.

Style: Porter | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.7% | Rating: 5

Beer Review 14 | Guinness Extra Stout

Has that chocolaty, kind of metal tasting Guinness flavor of the original, just a bit thicker.

Style: Stout | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 5.6% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 15 | Red Stripe

Decent smoke, decent carbonation, very clean, floral smell.

An okay beer…“Red Stripe, it is beer!”

Style: Jamaican Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.6% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 16 | Kentucky Vanilla Barrel Cream Ale

Cool bottle, cool aged in bourbon barrels gimmick, but it’s pricey and the vanilla flavor was a bit too much for me. I love vanilla bean ice cream, but whenever I have a Vanilla Coke, it just tastes too artificial, and that was the vanilla flavor I picked up from this one. It was okay, but not a repurchase.

Beer Review 17 | Yazoo Gerst Amber Ale

Fair price, very drinkable, nothing remarkable.

Beer Review 18 | Blue Moon Belgian White

Around 2009, when more beers beside the usual American adjunct lagers were becoming more popular, Blue Moon seemed to really explode in popularity. It seemed to be a pretty common chick beer for female beer drinkers back then. I’m not sure how popular it is now, but having retried it, it was very underwhelming. A hazy looking, bitter orange flavored beer.

Beer Review 19 | River Rat Hazelnut Brown Ale

The can says it’s best if it’s slightly warmed up, which is sort of how I drink my beers anyways. When I am power drinking a 12pk, I usually just leave the pack of cans or bottles on the counter after getting the first one, so this is right up my alley. It has a brown nutty goodness to it, I liked it a lot, just wish it was cheaper.

Style: Brown Ale | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 5.4% | Rating: 4

Beer Review 20 | Oyster City Hooter Brown

Has a nutty flavor that has a bit of an alcohol bite to it, it also leaves a strong aftertaste. The alc/vol is pretty high, so a 6pk should get you where you need to go.

Beer Review 21 | Holy City Brewing Overly Friendly IPA

It comes with your standard citrus and grass clippings smell/taste, and has a medium hazy color. It is refreshing to the tongue, with a slight aftertaste bite. The can is kind of annoying to look at, but it’s a solid IPA.

Beer Review 22 | SweetWater H.A.Z.Y. IPA

I love the SweetWater Brewing Company’s products, but this was my first time trying their H.A.Z.Y. IPA, and was not disappointed. I found this one much better than their standard IPA in the yellow can. Very hazy with floaters, citrusy and delicious, I plan on getting this one many more times. A darn tasty beverage.

Beer Review 23 | Catawba White Zombie White Ale

Sweet looking can with various shades of purple with a raised textured zombie on it. A very tasty and refreshing beverage, dangerously frothy.

Beer Review 24 | Palmetto Amber Ale

Pours a dark color that resembles a Barq’s Root Beer with a lot of head, but it's a very average tasting beer. Not worth the price, will not be repurchasing.

Beer Review 25 | Palmetto Peach Pale Ale

Dangerously subtle peach flavor, and much like its Palmetto Amber Ale brother, the flavor isn’t worth the price, will not be repurchasing. I’d rather just grab a Peach Nehi or Peach Faygo for my post drinking recovery beverage.

Beer Review 26 | Palmetto Salted Lime Lager

Another 3/5 beer from the good people over at the Palmetto Brewing Company, it tastes kind of like a key lime pie with a dash of salt.

Beer Review 27 | Highland Brewing Seasonal Berryful

From the beautiful city of Asheville North Carolina, this seasonal beer feels like someone loaded up a gatling gun full of sweet and tart blueberries and rapidly fired them directly on to your taste buds. I preferred this one a bit more than SweetWater’s Blue beer.

Beer Review 28 | Beer Den Robin Hood Amber Lager

From the fine people over at Lowe’s Foods (the grocery store, not the hardware store) where you can get drunk at the in store bar, this is Beer Den’s Robin Hood Amber Lager. It has a very orangey amber color, and tastes great. It tastes like being drunk inside a grocery store.

Beer Review 29 | Holy City Folly Time Juicy Pale Ale

A beer meant to remind you of looking at the dolphins in the ocean, and the bikini bottoms on babes, all while skipping the traffic and jellyfishes that comes along with a beach trip. It’s okay an okay beer, dedicated to the hippy beach known as Folly.

Beer Review 30 | Milwaukee's Best Ice

Tastes horrible, and gives you a rougher hangover than the other Ice beers. That being said, at 10 dollary doos for a 15pk, even in today’s Nightmare World timeline, The Beast Ice is a winner in my book.

Beer Review 31 | Oyster City MANGrOve Pale Ale

Has a very strong and delightful fruity smell, tastes like mango, maybe a bit of an overly “alcohol” taste. The alc/vol is great, but with that price, it’s a one and done purchase for me.

Style: Fruit Beer | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 8.2% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 32 | Samuel Adams Porch Rocker

I picked this one up for a build your own 6pk without even realizing what it was all about. When I read the description on the back right before drinking it, it said that the drink was inspired by German cyclists who mixed beer with lemonade to quench their thirst on hot summer days. I was shocked by how delicious and refreshing this one was. It sort of reminded me of a lemon lime Gatorade beer, which might sound odd, but I could easily see myself killing a 12pk of these.

Beer Review 33 | Palmetto Mango Passion Fruit Session Sour

Sour beer, woof.

Beer Review 34 | Palmetto Huger Street IPA

An average tasting IPA, the price and the alc/vol is decent though. It’s readily available in my area, so I’ll probably have more in the future, but it’s nothing to write home about.

Beer Review 38 | Modelo Especial

From Constellation Brands in the USA, it’s America’s new #1 beer Modelo Especial! A tasty cerveza with a hint of honey and citrus. While not as good as its darker beer brother, and while the price is nothing to write back home to Mexico about, it is indeed a tasty beverage. The cool looking bottle wrapped in gold aluminum foil doesn’t hurt either, I just worry about one day having that foil hitting one of my fillings, but until then, drink up!

Beer Review 39 | Miller High Life

Back in my early 20’s whenever I would drink at home instead of going out to a house party or a dive bar, Miller High Life and Budweiser were my go to beers. The taste has a rich creaminess to it, at least that is what I get out of it. I also love the design of the bottles, it is a mixture of classy and cheesy that really appeals to me, however I do prefer the taste out of the can more. One of the most satisfying bottom shelf beers you’ll find, it’s Miller High Life “The Champagne of Beers!

Beer Review 40 | Terrapin Hopsecutioner IPA

Tastes like a Pepsi-Cola.

Beer Review 41 | Corona Extra

This beer reminds me of every Dad’s refrigerator in the early 2000’s. It seemed like whenever I’d go over to a buddy’s house, this was the beer in their Dad’s fridge, so I think of that more than I do the cheesy beach commercials. I believe I had a Corona Extra at a bar over fifteen years ago, so this was pretty much like a first impression today. Corona Extra has the skunkiness of a Heineken, without any of the Heineken goodness. It tastes bitter, and not in a fun “beer” kind of way. I added lime to it, and now I totally understand why that’s a thing, but on its own I give it a very generous 2.5 out of 5.

Beer Review 42 | Pabst Blue Ribbon

A beer enjoyed by both manly men and girly men (hipsters) alike. I first remember seeing hipsters drinking this beer for $1.50 a bottle at my favorite dive bar back in 2005. Then by 2011 there must have been an article about it in Hipster Monthly Magazine, because fedoras began to tip by the millions nationwide for PBR. The beer tastes OKAY, and it’s in the 11 dollar range for a 12pk, which is the new CHEAP for beer. It is the gold standard for a 3 out of 5 beer.

Style: American Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 4.8% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 43 | Modelo Chelada Especial

It tastes like a tomato flavored Sprite, a bit too rich for me. I’d be curious to try it with a freshly cracked open Modelo Especial and the fixings added afterwards, that would also bump the alc/vol up from 3.5% to 4.4%. The canned version will not be a repurchase for me.

Beer Review 44 | Heineken

The bottle looks cool, and it tastes like a Heineken.

Beer Review 45 | Miller Lite

I can’t believe I’m actually reviewing a light beer lol, I expected to review a Yuengling Light or a Modelo Oro before this one anyways. It’s Miller Lite, it tastes better than Coors Light and Bud Light, which I’ve known for years. It tastes like a nerfed version of Miller High Life, which isn’t a bad thing if you’re trying to lose your spare tire. It pretends to identify as a pilsner on the label, while being an American adjunct lager, I guess some guy on the marketing team heard the word pilsner back in 1942 and slapped it on can. If I ever fully transition to 4% beers, Miller Lite would be a good choice.

Beer Review 46 | Sierra Nevada Summerfest

Has a beautiful golden color, decent head, and practically no aroma. The taste is lemony and light. It is a fine and refreshing lager, but I'm more likely to grab a slightly cheaper pack of Miller High Life or PBR. Jeremy Piven probably loves this stuff.

Style: Lager | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 5% | Rating: 3.5

Beer Review 47 | Shiner TexHex Bruja’s Brew

Supposedly brewed with cactus water, hazy in appearance, orangey in taste, and the can has a cool looking cowgirl on it. I liked it, not a beer I’m going to have on rotation, but I enjoyed it in my build your own 6pk.

Style: IPA | Tap/Can/Bottle: Can | Abv: 7% | Rating: 4

Beer Review 48 | Shiner Bock

Tastes like the tap water version of Michelob AmberBock, not a repurchase. The drill sergeant from Full Metal Jacket might have been right about a few things is all I’m saying.

Style: Bock | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 4.5% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 49 | VooDoo Ranger Imperial IPA

I used to be really into IPAs, but I’m starting to think it was mostly just for the high abv. It tastes okay, big alcohol taste and leaves a bit of a bite on the tongue. I would not recommend having an entire 6 pack of these, throw 3 or so into a build your own 6pk and that’ll do the trick.

Style: Imperial IPA | Tap/Can/Bottle: Bottle | Abv: 9% | Rating: 3

Beer Review 50 | Michelada (Micheladder Especial Señorita Slayer)

A VERY tasty beverage, the lime and spice really deliver, but it's not something I'd recommend having more than 3 of in a night because it's so rich, so for that reason I give it a 4 out of 5. Next time I might try replacing the Clamato Juice with V8, but the Sriracha hot sauce is a MUST. I tried one with some Valentina hot sauce, and it wasn't as good.

Add

4 oz Clamato Juice

1 Lime Squeezed
